Mont Rocher Carignan Vielles Vignes - Languedoc

REGION: Herault, France

VARIETIES: Carignan

ALCOHOL: 12.5%

VITICULTURE: Conventional

YEAR: 2021/22

INFO: Carignan really can be quite a boring wine. When the vines are young, it's often used in blends in the most basic of Languedoc and Southern France wines to bulk out the colour and add a bit of body. Once the vines get beyond about 30 or 40 years old though, it changes completely. It produces a lot less fruit, meaning the flavours are concentrated. It's still not highly regarded, which is why it's often quite cheap. For us, this means it's often fantastic value.

Soft fruit, easy-drinking, nice tannins. Excellent value!
